SiteSpect alternatives for testing and personalization

Monetate acquired SiteSpect in June 2025 and now sells it as Forte, part of its Maestro experimentation suite. If your SiteSpect contract is up for review, here are the options, who each one fits, and how to move without a gap.

What happened

What happened to SiteSpect

SiteSpect built A/B testing that runs at the network layer, before the page reaches the browser. In 2025 it became part of Monetate. Here is what Monetate itself says.

June 30, 2025

The acquisition

Monetate … today announced it has acquired SiteSpect, a leader in A/B testing

Monetate said the deal unites its real-time personalization with SiteSpect’s zero-flicker testing.

What it means for your website

SiteSpect has not been switched off — it carries on as Forte inside Monetate. But your next renewal is with Monetate, which makes it a natural point to ask whether you still need network-layer testing, or testing and personalization on your pages.

Before you choose

What a SiteSpect customer needs now

There are two different needs here. Decide which one you have.

Need 1 · network-layer testing

Tests that run before the page reaches the browser

Secure portals, checkout and logged-in flows where nothing may change in the browser. That is what Forte is built for, and staying with it for that job is a reasonable choice. Personyze is not a network-layer proxy.

Need 2 · test and personalize

Tests and personalization on your pages

Testing per audience, then showing each audience the version that won for it, with recommendations and AI on the same tag. That is the job this page is about.

A checklist for the website job

A winner per audience

Promotes a winner for each audience while the test runs, instead of one average winner after it.

Personalize the winner

Shows each segment the version that won for it, from the same tool that ran the test.

Results by audience

Reports every test by audience and goal, including revenue, not only clicks.

Server-side when needed

An API and server SDKs for decisions that have to be made on your server.

AI that does the setup

Drafts hypotheses, audiences and variants; you approve each change.

Help with the move

A team that rebuilds your running tests while the old tool stays live.

Switching

Moving from SiteSpect in six steps

From live SiteSpect tests to Personyze, with nothing switched off before its replacement runs.

  1. List what is running

Export or screenshot each live SiteSpect test and campaign: the pages, the variants, the audiences and the goals.

  2. Add the Personyze tag

One snippet in your site header, or through Google Tag Manager. Decisions that must be made on your server go through the REST API or the Node, PHP and Python SDKs.

  3. Set your goals

Recreate the conversions you measure: purchases, sign-ups, form submissions and clicks on key buttons.

  4. Rebuild the tests

Recreate each variant in the visual editor, or ask the AI personalization agent to draft them from your notes.

  5. Run side by side

Keep the old test live while the Personyze version runs in a test environment, and compare before you cut over.

  6. Cut over

Promote each winner to its audience, then take SiteSpect out of your traffic path.

Rather not do it yourself? We rebuild your campaigns in a test environment while you check them.

FAQ

SiteSpect alternatives: common questions

Is SiteSpect still available?

Yes, under a new name. Monetate announced on June 30, 2025 that it had acquired SiteSpect, and now describes Forte as “formerly SiteSpect” — its network-layer experimentation offering inside the Maestro suite. sitespect.com forwards to Monetate’s site.

Does Personyze test at the network layer like SiteSpect?

No. Personyze runs from a JavaScript tag in the browser, with a REST API and server-side SDKs for Node, PHP and Python when a decision has to be made on your server. If your tests must run in the network layer, Forte remains the closest fit.

What is the best SiteSpect alternative?

It depends on the job. For testing and personalization together on your existing pages, on a monthly plan, Personyze is built for that. Forte keeps SiteSpect’s network-layer testing, Optimizely suits experimentation in code, and Wingify suits testing-first teams.

Can Personyze personalize, not only test?

Yes. The same tag runs personalization, AI product and content recommendations, AI Promotions, an AI Product Finder and an AI Chat Agent, so a test winner can become each audience’s default.

How do I claim the free month?

Email a copy of your current or recent SiteSpect or Forte contract or invoice and your site’s address to support@personyze.com, or send it through the contact form. The offer is one free month of Personyze for the site the contract or invoice covers.

How long does it take to move from SiteSpect?

It depends on how many tests are running. The Switch to Personyze team rebuilds your tests in a test environment and runs them side by side with the old ones until you are confident.

What does Personyze cost after the free month?

Personyze has a free plan with 5,000 page views a month. Paid plans start with Starter at $149 a month billed monthly, then Growth at $250, Power at $450 and Enterprise from $1,450 a month. Monthly plans can be cancelled any time, and every paid plan has a 30-day money-back guarantee. See pricing.

Can I try Personyze before I install anything?

Yes. Inspire me, a free AI personalization tool, takes your site’s address and draws personalization ideas on your own pages, with no email needed. The free plan then runs them on up to 5,000 page views a month, with no card.
