Under the hood

How Personyze personalizes this Shopify store.

Every element in the demo is driven by a real Personyze capability. Here’s what powers each part.

01

First-Time Visitor (Anonymous)

When a new user lands on the site, we lack specific history. To maximize relevance, the personalization engine defaults to a "Best Sellers" strategy combined with IP Geolocation. The hero invites shoppers to browse the latest drop, the grid shows trending best sellers, and new customers get 10% off their first order. Learn about Website Personalization

02

Shopify History (Returning Customer)

For a recognized shopper, Personyze pulls from Shopify order history and on-site behavior. We know this customer has three past apparel orders, so the store leads with personalized picks — and if they abandon a cart, a recovery offer triggers automatically. Explore Recommendation Engine

  • Hero Banner: Changes to "Welcome back, Riley" with a prompt to continue shopping.
  • Product Grid: Shows picks based on their order history, such as a tailored wool coat and a silk scarf.
  • Offer: Free shipping on their next order over $75.
03

Cart Recovery (Cart Abandoner)

This visitor added 3 items to their cart but never checked out. Personyze detects the abandoned cart, and a behavioral rule triggers a recovery offer. See Behavioral Targeting

  • Action: The homepage leads with "Still Thinking It Over?" and the items still in their cart, with a Return to Cart button.
  • Goal: Recover the sale, with an extra 10% off if they finish checkout within the hour.
04

Content Personalization

Personalization isn't just for products. To build authority and trust, we dynamically inject relevant blog posts. New shoppers see style guides and the latest collection, returning customers see styling and care notes, and cart abandoners see free returns and what other shoppers bought. This keeps users engaged longer.

Technical Summary:
This demo utilizes real-time user segmentation. The content (hero images, product grids, and coupon codes) is swapped dynamically using the Personyze WYSIWYG Page Editor, Promotion Manager, and Recommendation Widgets, based on the detected "Persona ID". In a live environment, this is handled by Personyze's server-side or client-side injection logic.

Questions

Questions about this example

How does Personyze personalize a Shopify store?

It uses the store's catalog, each shopper's order history and on-site behavior to show different heroes, product recommendations, offers and content to new visitors, returning customers and cart abandoners.

How does the cart-recovery state work?

When a visitor has items in the cart but has not checked out, Personyze detects the abandoned cart and a behavioral rule shows the items still in the cart with a time-limited recovery offer.

Can returning Shopify customers see recommendations based on past orders?

Yes. In this example a customer with three apparel orders sees picks based on that history plus a free-shipping offer.
