Buyer’s Guide

The Best Reviews and Testimonials Software

What other customers say is often the last thing a visitor reads before buying. This guide compares the tools that collect reviews and testimonials and put them on your site — and what Google and the FTC say about how you do it.

Product reviews and testimonials are not the same

The tools in this guide collect one or the other first, and Google treats them differently.

Reviews, and Google stars

Google’s review-snippet rules make product pages eligible for star ratings, but not reviews a business controls about itself: LocalBusiness and Organization markup is “only for sites that capture reviews about other local businesses/organizations”. Seller ratings in Google Ads come from Google Customer Reviews and review partners; Google names Trustpilot, Yotpo, Feefo and Trusted Shops as examples.

Testimonials, and the FTC

Testimonials persuade on your own pages and in sales. The US FTC rule on reviews and testimonials, in effect since October 21, 2024, bans fake ones — including AI-generated ones — and incentives conditioned on a positive sentiment. Personyze asks every customer the same way, whatever they would rate.

How to choose reviews and testimonials software

Decide first what you need people to read — product reviews, a company score, or client stories — then compare on these:

01

How it collects

Review requests after an order, a form on your site, video, or imports from other sites.

02

Your platform

Shopify-first apps, ecommerce platforms in general, or any site by snippet.

03

Google and marketplaces

Seller ratings, Shopping product ratings, rich snippets, and syndication to retailers.

04

Which reviews each visitor sees

The same wall for everyone, or the ones about this product, this industry, this city.

05

Fair collection

Asking everyone the same way, no rewards for a positive review, no hiding bad ones.

06

Where the reviews live

On a public profile you do not control, or in your own library and on your site.

The best reviews and testimonials software

Grouped by what they collect, and ordered within each group by fit for a mid-size business. Facts are from each vendor’s own pages in November 2026; prices change, so the tiers here are coarse.

Frequently asked questions

What is reviews and testimonials software?
Software that asks customers for reviews or testimonials and shows them on your website. Product review tools collect ratings of individual products after an order; company review platforms such as Trustpilot keep a public profile of your business; testimonial tools collect quotes and videos from clients for your own pages.
Can testimonials on my own site get star ratings in Google?
Usually not. Google’s review-snippet rules say that if the entity being reviewed controls the reviews about itself, its LocalBusiness or Organization pages are not eligible for review stars. Product reviews on product pages can be eligible, and the ratings must come directly from users.
How do I get seller ratings in Google?
Google builds store ratings from Google Customer Reviews and third-party review partners, naming Trustpilot, Yotpo, Feefo and Trusted Shops as examples. Google says most merchants get a rating after collecting 100 or more eligible reviews, and a rating of 3.5 or above is needed to show it on text ads.
Is it legal to ask only happy customers for reviews?
It is risky. The US FTC rule on consumer reviews and testimonials, in effect since October 21, 2024, bans fake reviews, including AI-generated ones, and incentives conditioned on a review expressing a particular sentiment. Personyze asks every customer the same way, whatever they would rate. This is not legal advice.
Can I choose which reviews to show?
You can organize them. The FTC’s guidance says organizing reviews — by helpfulness or rating, for example — is not suppressing them, but an order that makes negative reviews hard to find could be deceptive. Showing each visitor the reviews about their product, industry or region, as Personyze does, is choosing by topic, not by score.
Can I bring reviews I already have into a new tool?
Most tools import. Senja, Testimonial.to and Trustmary import from Google, G2 and social sites; Personyze imports from 17 review platforms, including Judge.me, Trustpilot, Yotpo, Okendo, Stamped and REVIEWS.io, or from a CSV or Excel file.
