How does Personyze connect to Segment?
Through the Personyze destination in Segment’s catalog. In Personyze, go to Settings → Integrations → Segment and generate a Segment key, then add the Personyze destination in Segment and enter the key as its API Key. Your Segment source then flows to Personyze. Where the destination is not an option, identify calls can also be posted to Personyze’s webhook URL.
What's the critical setup step?
Map Segment's anonymous ID to the Personyze visitor: in Settings → Visitor attributes → Cross-device user identifiers, create an Internal ID identifier of type Cookie that reads ajs_anonymous_id. This ties historical anonymous and identified events to the same visitor.
What can I do with Segment data?
Use it for targeting (it appears under Profile Data in targeting rules) and for recommendations — either as filters or factored automatically into Personyze's machine-learning algorithms.
What kinds of data can I use?
Any data routed through Segment: CRM and social traits, demographics, role and industry, funnel position, offline transactions, and your own custom variables.
Does Personyze send data back to Segment?
Yes. Campaign events — impressions, clicks and conversions — go to Segment through analytics.js on pages that load it, for every campaign or per action, and from automations through Segment’s server API with a source’s write key.
