Back in stock & price drop alerts

Sold out is not
a lost sale.

Back in stock notifications and price drop alerts, built into Personyze. A button next to Add to Cart lets shoppers ask to be told — by email, by browser notification or with a reminder on your site — and Personyze tells them when it happens.

No extra app: it runs on the product catalog you already have in Personyze. You decide what can be asked, how big a drop counts and how long a request lasts, and a waiting list shows what to restock.

The problem

They wanted it. Then they left.

A shopper who lands on a sold-out product has nothing to do but leave. One who likes it, but not at this price, leaves to think it over. The interest was real — there was just nothing to hold on to it.

  • Sold outThe page is a dead end. With a button beside Add to Cart, it becomes a request you can keep.
  • Not at this priceThey leave to compare. With a price-drop request, you are the one who tells them it is cheaper.
How it works

Ask once. Hear once.

Three steps for the shopper. Nothing to install, no account to create, and they choose how they want to hear.

The button, next to Add to Cart

On a sold-out product it reads Notify me when it’s back. On a product with a price it can read Tell me if the price drops. A sold-out product with a price can offer both, and pages without a product show nothing.

They choose how to hear

One of the ways you turn on: by email (a shopper you already know is not asked to type it), by browser notification (the browser asks their permission), or on the site, which needs nothing at all.

Told once, when it happens

When the product has stayed back in stock, or the price has fallen past your line since they asked, the alert goes out. One request, one alert — and the request is done.

Three ways to tell them

Email, browser notification or the next visit.

Turn on one way or all three. With more than one on, the shopper picks the one they want for each request.

On the site

No address to type, nothing to allow. On their next visit, a reminder shows the products that are back or cheaper — up to three in one message by default.

Stops after a click, a dismiss or three visits
No spam to strangers

Every address is confirmed once.

Anyone can type anyone’s email into a form. So no alert goes to an address until its owner has said yes — and they only have to say it once.

  • Confirmed once, then never againBefore the first alert, the address gets one short email with a link. Once its owner clicks it, no request for that address needs confirming again in your shop. If nobody clicks, no alert ever goes to it, and the request is deleted after 48 hours.
  • The same answer for everyoneThe page says the same thing whether an address is new or already confirmed, so your button never reveals who your customers are.
  • A stop link that worksEvery alert ends with an unsubscribe link you cannot remove. Pressing it — or the stop link in the confirmation — stops alerts to that address from your shop for a year.
  • Limits per mailboxTwo confirmation emails a day to one mailbox at most, and ten alerts a day: twenty products coming back on one morning is not twenty emails to one person.
Please confirm your email address - Waypoint & Co.to maya.reyes@example.com

Hi,

Someone - hopefully you - asked Waypoint & Co. to email this address when Alpine Parka – Ember is back in stock.

Yes, email me

You only need to do this once: after it, Waypoint & Co. can email this address about anything you ask it to, and every email has a link to stop them.

If this was not you, ignore this email: nothing is sent to you unless you confirm. The link works for 2 days.

From the confirmation email: the same fixed words for every shop, with your shop’s name and the product.
You decide

Your rules for what counts.

Three settings decide how the button behaves. The words are yours too.

  • What can be askedBack in stock, price drops, or both. The stock button shows only on a sold-out product, the price button on any product with a price.
  • How big a drop countsAny drop, 5%, 10%, 20% or your own number, measured against the price when they asked. A sale price counts as a drop.
  • How long a request lastsUp to a year, 90 days by default. After that the request is deleted and nothing is sent.
  • Every wordThe button, the form and the alert in your language, with the product’s name, price, picture and link filled in. Your colour, outlined or solid.
Waiting list

See who is waiting. Restock what they want.

Every campaign with a Notify Me button gets a Waiting list in its reports: each product shoppers asked about, how many are waiting for it to come back or get cheaper, and how many alerts went out.

A restock signalForty-six people waiting for one parka is a reorder. Two waiting for another is not.
A pricing signalA long price-drop list shows where a markdown already has buyers waiting for it.
The whole storyWaiting, ready, sent, expired, cancelled and failed for each product, with the history of closed requests included.
Any catalog

Anything with a price and a stock.

Notify Me watches the items in your catalog, whatever they are. While they wait, show what is in stock now with product recommendations — see the out-of-stock alternatives example.

FAQ

Direct answers. No fluff.

The questions that come up before turning Notify Me on. Send anything else our way and we’ll answer fast.

What is a back in stock notification?

A message a shopper asks for when a product is sold out: once it can be bought again, they hear about it. In Personyze the shopper presses Notify me when it’s back next to Add to Cart and picks how to hear — by email, by browser notification or with a reminder on your site, from the ways you turn on.

How do price drop alerts work?

The shopper presses Tell me if the price drops, and Personyze keeps the price at that moment. When the price falls at least as far as your line — 5% unless you choose any drop, 10%, 20% or your own number — and the new price has held for ten minutes, the alert goes. A sale price counts as a drop; a product already on sale when they asked waits for a further drop.

Do shoppers have to confirm their email address?

Once. Before the first alert goes to an address, Personyze sends it one short email with a link; after its owner clicks it, no request for that address needs confirming again in your shop. Nobody gets an alert at an address they did not confirm, and an unconfirmed request is deleted after 48 hours. Browser notifications and reminders on the site need no address at all.

How soon does the alert go out?

Personyze checks your catalog every five minutes. A product has to stay back in stock for ten minutes, and a new price has to hold for ten minutes, before anyone is told — so a feed that blinks sends nothing. How soon that is after your restock or markdown depends on how often your catalog updates. A restock with thousands waiting goes out over several passes, not in one burst.

Does it work on Shopify?

Yes, and on other platforms. Notify Me runs on the Personyze tag and reads the product catalog in Personyze: Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, BigCommerce and Shopware stores can sync their catalog straight in, and any other site can send a product feed. There is no separate back-in-stock app to install.

Can shoppers ask about one size or colour?

Notify Me watches the products in your catalog. A size or colour that is its own product in your catalog is watched on its own; variants inside one product are not told apart.

What does the Waiting list show?

Every product shoppers asked about, with how many are waiting, ready, sent, expired, cancelled or failed — for back in stock and price drops, by email, browser notification or on the site, history included. It sits in the reports of every campaign that holds a Notify Me button; search a product, or narrow the list to one kind or one way.

Is Notify Me an add-on?

No. Notify Me is part of Personyze on every account. It needs product tracking and your product catalog in Personyze; browser notifications also need the Personyze service worker file on your site. See the plans.

Keep the shoppers who were not ready yet.

Add Notify Me to your product pages and let shoppers tell you what they are waiting for. It is on every Personyze account.
