General covers everything else — both non-personal picks (Most Popular, Best Sellers, Price Dropped, New in Stock) and recipient-profile picks (Recently Viewed, Buy it Again, Your Wishlist) that don't need a specific item to anchor on. The same algorithm — say "Cross-Sells" — produces very different results depending on which anchor you pick.

Replace {INSERT EMAIL HERE} with the recipient's email, or {INSERT INTERNAL ID HERE} with the user's ID, or {INSERT PRODUCT ID HERE} for non-personal recommendations.
This code uses an HTML <table>, but you (or your designer) can use a different structure.

Sending the code
1Copy the snippet above.
2Paste it into your email template's HTML — most ESPs (Mailchimp, SendGrid, Klaviyo, Iterable, etc.) accept raw HTML blocks.
3Replace the {INSERT …} placeholders with your ESP's merge tag for that field — e.g. *|EMAIL|* in Mailchimp, {{ recipient.email }} in SendGrid.
4Send a test to yourself to verify the images render.
Things to verify
The product catalog is up to date in Catalog → Products.
The selected algorithm makes sense for the email context — e.g. don't use "Items in cart" for a generic newsletter.
Image dimensions, padding, and link target are configured in Step 2 — Customize.
Track opens / clicks via your ESP's standard tracking — Personyze attributes opens to recommendations automatically.
