Pick the anchor first. The anchor tells Personyze which recipient signal to feed into the algorithm. Articles they read anchors to the actual articles the recipient finished. Categories they viewed anchors to the topics they browsed (without needing a specific article). General covers everything else — non-personal picks (Most Popular, Most Commented, Recently Published) and recipient-profile picks (Recently Viewed, Reached Goal) that don't need a specific item.

Replace {INSERT EMAIL HERE} with the recipient's email, or {INSERT INTERNAL ID HERE} with the user's ID, or {INSERT ARTICLE ID HERE} for non-personal recommendations.
This code uses an HTML <table>, but you (or your designer) can use a different structure.

Variables you must populate

{INSERT INTERNAL ID HERE} Your internal user ID — useful when emails are anonymized or hashed.

{INSERT ARTICLE ID HERE} Article internal ID. Used for non-personal recommendations anchored to a product.

Sending the code

1Copy the snippet above.

2Paste it into your email template's HTML — most ESPs (Mailchimp, SendGrid, Klaviyo, Iterable, etc.) accept raw HTML blocks.

3Replace the {INSERT …} placeholders with your ESP's merge tag for that field — e.g. *|EMAIL|* in Mailchimp, {{ recipient.email }} in SendGrid.

4Send a test to yourself to verify the images render.

Things to verify

The product catalog is up to date in Catalog → Products.

The selected algorithm makes sense for the email context — e.g. don't use 'Visitors Who Read This Also Read' if you don't have an article-anchored recipient signal.

Image dimensions, padding, and link target are configured in Step 2 — Customize.

Track opens / clicks via your ESP's standard tracking — Personyze attributes opens to recommendations automatically.

Once you're sending, head to Campaign performance → Email Get Code to see opens, clicks, and revenue attribution per recommendation.
