Product Recommendations in Action

An Anonymous Visitor

When the visitor arrives, the home page displays the most popular products based on a combination of their location, time of the day, and interest derived from the referring url, in addition to what we have learned from other visitors:

On the product page, they will see what was viewed by others who viewed this product:

On the cart page, what was most often bought together with the products currently in cart:

Further in their session, when we see different products they viewed, we can better detect their interest. For example, if someone viewed a tuxedo and elegant shoes, we can learn that he is going to an event and we can recommend a bow-tie, cuff links, etc.:

A Returning Visitor

Based on products they bought in the past, a returning visitor can be shown products they might like to buy again, accessories for products previously bought, or change the price on products they viewed but did not buy in the past, or most popular items from the category they usually buy.

on the category page, we can sort by their favorite brands and filter by their sizes, or other factors based on what we know about them, such as gender and age.

Re-Marketing Emails

Personyze also allows you to include recommendations embedded into your re-marketing emails. This can be useful in a variety of contexts, from cart abandonment to simply reminding customers to re-stock their pantries.

For example, a user can be sent emails at regular intervals to remind them about purchasing various perishable or otherwise commonly replenished items, like coffee, toilet paper, or cleaning supplies:

In many cases, you may want to embed recommendations in an email after a purchase, to cross-sell related items, such as accessories to a tablet recently purchased on your site:

You may also want to recommend new items, for a category that was bought before, especially for a customer who hasn’t been back to the site in a while. An example could be other power tools, for a customer who purchased a power drill in the past:

Lastly, a common use for re-marketing emails is to fight cart abandonment, and with Personyze, it’s easy to embed recommendations that show items previously left in cart, items similar to those previously left in cart, and also present a coupon link that gives them a discount, or free shipping
