Below is a list of visitor characteristics tracked by Personyze from the moment you embed the tracking code in your website. Treat these as a vocabulary used to describe any visitor. When a visitor matches your audience description, Personyze executes all linked personalization actions, and that visitor is presented with personally relevant marketing message and content. It’s that simple.

Personalization Rules – By Category

1) Popular Personalization Rules:

Personalization Rule Description
My IP IP of the person Combining the Rules into an Audience Definition
Pages Visited Pages the visitor is currently at, or visited during the current session
Countries Country in which the visitor’s IP address is located
Visit(Session) Count How many sessions since the cookie was created
Landing Pages Checks if a new/returning visitor entered the website from a a specific page
Platform Browsing Device’s Hardware Type
Containers Trigger events based on dynamic data contained inside of page elements (fields, cookies, input boxes, search boxes, etc.)
Days till Birthday Days remaining until the visitor’s birthday (0 means today, 1 means tomorrow, etc.)
Air Temperature Forecasted air temperature at the visitor’s IP based location.

2) Personalize based on Keywords and the Visitor’s Origin of Arrival

Personalization Rule Description
 Keywords  Search Keywords that led the visitor to the website.
 Directly  The visitor arrived at the webpage by typing a URL in the browser.
 Broadcast Campaign  (Campaigns, Mailing List, SMS Messages, Personal Email).
 Referring sites  The visitor arrived at the webpage from a specific referring site.
 Search engines The visitor arrived at the webpage from a specific search engine.
 Internal search  Keywords searched in the site (to define an internal search go to Settings).
 Internal page  The visitor arrived at the webpage by clicking on a link in a page within the site.
Adwords /other  Choose from list of ad groups, use UTM and similar parameters to target visitors arriving from specific ads.

3) Personalize Based on the Visitor’s Browsing Activity

Personalization Rule Description
 Pages Visited Pages the visitor is currently at, or visited during the current session.
 Page Views Visitor’s current Page View count
 Popular Pages Checks if the visitor favored a specific page or page group.
 Landing Page  Checks if a new/returning visitor entered the website from a a specific page

4) Personalize Based on the Visitors Geo-Location

Personalization Rule Description
 City  City in which the visitor’s IP address is located
 Country  Country in which the visitor’s IP address is located
 Region  Region/State in which the the visitor’s IP address is located
 Continent  Continent in which the the visitor’s IP address is located

5) Personalize Based on the Visitor’s Behavior

Personalization Rule Description
 Visit (session) count Number of sessions since the cookie was created
 Time since last visit  The amount of time that has passed since the visitor’s previous visit
New/Returning Visitor  Whether they are a new or returning visitor
Purchase history  A record of all items purchased by the visitor from the website
 Page enter time Exact time that the current page has been loaded
 Average time on page  Total time on pages / Total pages viewed
 Total time in focus Total time that pages were in focus (i.e., active)
 Page events Count of page events (scrolling, key presses, and mouse clicks)
 Page views Count of page views
Total time on pages Total time on pages
 % of time in focus  Total time in focus / Total time in site, in this session
 % of pages that lost focus Times that pages lost focus / Total pages viewed, in this session
Page refresh Times that a page refresh was performed
Links Name and type of hyperlinks clicked

6) Personalize Based on Goals Achieved

7) Personalize Based on the Visitor’s OS, Browser, and Platform Data

Personalization Rule Description
IP IP address
 User ID Unique User ID that was assigned by Personyze, or from your CRM.
Browser Language  Browser language preference
 Company  Company to which the IP address is assigned
 OS name and version  Operating System used by the visitor during current visit
 Browser name and version Browser used by the visitor during current visit
Screen Resolution  Display resolution as set in the OS
 Screen bit depth  Display bit depth as set in the OS
 Platform Browsing device’s hardware type
 Rich media plug-in  Multimedia plug-ins’ versions
 Browser settings Checks if cookies, Ajax and Java are enabled
 Mobile browsing Checks if browsing through a mobile device
SSL connection  Checks if connection is HTTP or HTTPS

8) Personalize Based on the Visitor’s Weather Forecast

 Air Temperature  Forecasted Air temerature at the visitors IP based location
 Wind Speed  Forecasted Wind Speed at the visitors IP based location
 Wind Direction  Forecasted Wind Direction at the visitors IP based location
 Cloud Cover  Forecasted Cloud Cover at the visitors IP based location
 Humidity  Forecasted Humidity at the visitors IP based location
 Pressure  Forecasted Pressure at the visitors IP based location

9) Personalize Based on User Profile (Facebook/Social/CRM)

 Birthday  The Visitors Date of Birth
 Religion  The Visitors Religion
Current City  City the visitor resides in
Current State  State the visitor currently lives in
 Current Country  Country the Visitor Currently lives in
 Hometown City  City where the visitor was born or grew up at
 Hometown State  State where the visitor was born or grew up at
 Hometown Country Town where the visitor was born or grew up at
 Sexual Orientation The visitors sexual orientation
 Sex  Visitor’s gender
 Relationship Status  The visitor’s current relationship status on Facebook
 Political The visitor’s political views or affiliations
Allowed Restrictions
 Interests   The visitor’s indicated interests
 Website The visitor’s specified website
Education Year The year the visitor has completed acquiring his education
 Education Name The name of the academic establishment where the visitor has acquired his education
 Education Degree The degree the visitor has received
 No. of Facebook Friends Number of Facebook friends the visitor has
Email   The visitor’s email
Occupation The visitor’s occupation
 Vehicle type  The type of vehicle the visitor drives
 Financial The Visitor’s financial information

10) Personalize Based on Custom Number/Text

Personalization Rule Description
 Number  Custom number input, can be anything which is useful for targeting.
 Text  Custom text input, can be anything which is useful for targeting.

11) Assign to Control Group or Rotation

Personalization Rule Description
 Control Group  Defines a range of all visitors based on their user id (as assigned by Personyze).
 Rotation  Defines a rotation ratio for visitors entering the website

12) Audiences, Actions, or Containers

Personalization Rule Description
 Actions  Personalized Content the visitor was exposed to
 Audience  Audience Definitions previously matched
Event/Container  Value contained inside of a specified container which Personyze has been set to grab, for instance current cart value, or keywords being searched on a site’s internal search bar, or a visitor’s account type or email. Personyze can grab virtually anything from the site, and use it for segmentation.
